What is the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

That’s a good question!

“Gospel” means “good news.” The good news is that Jesus Christ, both God and man, died and was raised so that sinners like us could be reconciled to God… God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.  (Ephesians 2:4-5 ESV)

That’s a statement that begs a few questions and needs a little unpacking.

  • Is Jesus really God?
  • Why did God become a man?
  • Why do we need to be reconciled to God?
  • What is this new and eternal life?
  • Can anyone be reconciled to God?
  • What exactly did Jesus do to save people?
  • In the end, won’t God just “save” everybody?

To aid you in thinking through all this we’d like to point you to a website that we think helpfully outlines the gospel of Jesus Christ and answers these questions.

As believers, we love nothing more than talking about Jesus and the gospel.  Feel free to contact us for a deeper discussion!
