The cultural events of the past ten years have been significant and often concerning. Understandably, Christians are worried about our culture and the pace of its decline. But what are we to do? How are we to respond? Should we keep our heads down or throw ourselves into the culture war? We will seek to answer these questions in our class Christian Cultural Engagement.

Almost everyone seems to have political opinions these days, but too often we disconnect our view of the government from the teaching of God’s Word. In this class, we consider some foundational truths on the way we should think about our relationship to government and, more importantly, to God. As Christians, though we are to be submissive to the government, our ultimate allegiance is to God.

There is no doubt a revolution has swept through America in its understanding of sexuality and gender. This transition presents Christians with a challenge. The spirit of the age embraces gay as good and redefines gender on a spectrum with no normative connection to one’s biological sex. In this way of thinking, people can love who they want and be whatever they think they are. In this discipleship class, we will consider how the church should think about these issues and love the world with truth.
